Za sastanke na vrhu afričkog summita Sirte 2009. mala lokalna zračna luka Sirte obnovila je Ersa u roku od 5 mjeseci kako bi se smjestila međunarodna
flights. New terminal building with VIP Lounge has been constructed as Steel Construction, kalzip roofing with glazing facade coverings. Air control tower has been rehabilitated and recovered while new operational softwares and systems have been installed. Runway and apron floor concrete have been poured by using Massenza concrete pavers.
